Description of Organization

The Mindfulness in Law Society was created in 2016. The purpose of the Mindfulness in Law Society is to provide a national umbrella organization to develop, promote, coordinate, and assess activities in the legal profession relating to mindfulness meditation and other contemplative practices. The goal is to reach law students, practitioners, judges, law librarians, and all others involved in the legal profession.

Grant(s) Awarded

In late 2016, The Lenz Foundation awarded Mindfulness in Law Society a $25,000 grant; half funded in 2016 and the remainder upon successful receipt of their 501c3 non-profit status. The first round of funding was utilized to offset the cost of participation in the 2017 Southeastern Association of Law Schools Conference on Mindfulness. In late 2018, Mindfulness in Law Society received their 501c3 and the remainder of their grant was awarded, to be utilized for additional conference costs.
